SharePoint 2013 - Enable Sign in as Different User

Add the missing Sign in as Different User item to the SharePoint 2013 welcome menu by editing Welcome.ascx.

Out of the box, SharePoint 2013 does not show a link to sign in as a different user. You can add it back by editing the welcome control template.

  1. Open this file on the server:
text
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES\Welcome.ascx
  1. Find the tag with ID="ID_RequestAccess".
  2. Paste the following markup just above that tag:
xml
<SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate
  runat="server"
  ID="ID_LoginAsDifferentUser"
  Text="<%$Resources:wss,personalactions_loginasdifferentuser%>"
  Description="<%$Resources:wss,personalactions_loginasdifferentuserdescription%>"
  MenuGroupId="100"
  Sequence="100"
  UseShortId="true"
/>

The change affects every site on the server, so repeat it on each web front end.
